Terpenes
For those of you for whom this is a new term/ like for older weed consumers from the 60s to the 90s lol 4 me too
We are familiar with terms like THC (TetraHydroCannabinol) and have now learned ...
to be accustomed to CBD (CannaBiDiol) where THC is supposed to be the one that is psychoactive and ...
CBD is supposed to be more medicinal ...
Lately we have also been exposed to other phyto-cannabinoids like CBG and CBN ...
However, the subject matter here is to show that we are getting away from so much talk about "sativas", indicas and ...
even THC content ...
For me ... terpenes are responsible for smell, taste and so many other factors internally ...
In cannabis the most common terpenes are caryophyllene, myrcene, pinene, limonene, terpinolene .
Other less common ones in cannabis are linalool, humulene and ocimene ...
DON'T get overwhelmed with the terminology
- will bring things down to a simpler level now!
Terpenes are said to enhance or mitigate the cannabinoids like THC listed earlier.
Some people call this the "entourage effect" ... i.e. it ain't just THC any more !!
Let's discuss the most common terpenes mentioned earlier ...

Myrcene - I haf listed the common cannabis terpene details in order of occurrence in the weed that ...
I have tried since the legalization of cannabis in Canada October 2018, which means ...
this one is the MOST common ...
Supposed has a earthy/musky aroma and is linked to sedation and "couch-lock" ...
which is what people used to call "indica" ...
This is a terpene I try NOT to have listed first in my strain selections.
However, cannabis is EXTREMELY personal and so are the terpenes ....
some say myrcene leaves a "down" afterwards ...
Oh yeah, myrcene is commonly found in thyme, mango and lemongrass
and THAT is why people tell you to eat mango b4 cannabis - kick-starts the myrcene !!
Which strains haf I enjoyed with myrcene first ??
SR71 PK/PinkKush, SR71 TD/TangerineDream, AC&C/ApricotCream&Cheese (with CBD),
cbd MH/MangoHaze, 1964 NuitBleu/BD, cbd Runtz, JC AG/AcapulcoGold, SB FruityLoopZee,
and PPM/PurpleMountain"Magic" with cbd
Please note that I haf excluded strains NOT available or rotational at the SQDC at time of writing ...
The boiling point of myrcene is 167°C/330°F = for maximum taste ... try your first sesh/session at this temp
That's a 510 cart with AC&C which has THC at 28% and CBD at 43% = Very NICE !!
...it is NOT yet available from the governmental SQDC shop and WILL be limited to 30% THC
btw 510 carts go by a whole different setting for consumption that is not covered here ....
............................................................................................................................
Caryophyllene - as myrcene is the most common, this terp is next ...
As it is found in black pepper, cinammon and cloves -- it is suggested it is "spicy"
Medically it is said to aid with pain and inflammation ...
(some say caryophyllene can actually interact with receptors in our body - NOT the others)
Which strains haf I enjoyed with caryophllene first ??
Spinach GMO, Lise's BonVoisin/AC/AlienCookies
This terpene is extremely "common", butt is rarely the primary terpene in the weed I vape/smoke
I DID try Tribal GM/GelatoMint, butt it has lost its quality ... and allure ...
If caryophyllene is your primary terpene, try setting your first vape session to 263°C/505°F
...for maximum flavour HIT ....
That's Lise BonVoisin/AlienCookies where I purchased one gram to test = AMAZING !!
............................................................................................................................
Pain relief from cannabis is actually an interesting subject - for me ...
I find eaten weed helps me more with pain than inhaling
............................................................................................................................
Limonene - This is my FAVORITE/fave terpene !!
The fact that people pronounce this one two waze makes me laff
...some make the i long like in "mile" and i keep it short like in "mill"
For this terpene ... I do NOT even need to look up its taste nor its effects ...
YES, it is like lemons ... which some people will call citrus flavour ..
thanks 4 da gif IQ !
...and in terms of effects ... I call them stimulating, enlightening or elevating ...
These characteristics are typically associated with "sativas" et je suis un gars de sativa !
Which strains haf I enjoyed with limonene first ??
GreenCrack/GC, OMY KushCookies, Carmel AnimalFace, NUGZ IceWaterHash, SR71 PinkKush/PK
ELB, XoPro TimeWreck, DojaLimeMAC, FIGR JungleFumes, love em all !!!
When I am vaping weed with limonene as primary terp ... I vape first session at 177°C/350°F = lemonade
Note: if there is pinene too, I may vape first session as pinene first ... see below about that terp
That's XoPro TimeWreck that is absolutely amazing and HITS HARD !! Love it !!
............................................................................................................................
Pinene - This is my 2nd favourite terpene π
Since I criticized limonene for pronunciation, perhaps I should discuss it here too ?? lol
Should pinene be pronounced with the I/eye short as in pin or long as in pine → PINE !!
In terms of taste, I do believe the name says it all and too much can lead to pine sol taste ...
...for the effects ? this terpene's documented effects surprise me → medical ??
"anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer?, depression, anxiety, antioxidant, helps asthmatics"
for me ... this one is about the pine taste it and makes me feel good ...
Which strains haf I enjoyed with pinene first ??
Holy Crap = ALL the strains I tried like that are gone = BD/BlueDream, PP/PowerPlant & MAC-1
The 1964 NuitBleu/BD/BlueDream did NOT even haf pinene and I marked it as ok 4 mixing ONLY
However, there are plenty of strains like my BC HomeGrown that have pinene as secondary terp
Others = TD/TangerineDream, GC/GreenCrack (all gone too), GTH/GhostTrainHaze (gone), MangoK, FIGR JungleFumes
When I am vaping weed to accent the pinene terpene ... I vape first session at 156°C/313°F = pine (sol ?)
obviously that is FIGR JungleFumes with limonene AND pinene = GREAT HYBRID/sativa
............................................................................................................................
Terpinolene -
............................................................................................................................
Humulene - Humulene is an "interesting" terpene cuz some say it reduces appetite.
We have ALL heard the "rumours" that "weed gives you the munchies" lol
...and here we are speaking about a terpene that may reduce appetite ??
In my case, cannabis does NOT give me the "munchies" ...
I yam a "sativa" guy which means I tend to avoid myrcene
...and THAT is the terpene associated with appetite ..
............................................................................................................................
This is a WHIP = Whork in Progress lol
